Now, don't people like that personal touch, when something feels like it's been made for them, just for them? And we can have many songs that feel like that even though they are too for the masses.
But the bard likes its small, the bard likes it neat and the bard likes to see beyond the story to the story within, the essence within if you like.
And so all songs can hold this quality for they too are mostly channelled to last the test of time. But for the bard, there is no grand planning, no grand standing, just them and their work. Their all seeing eye to the essence of the muse, the person for whom they are connected, to get to the crux, to get to the essence of what they feel within and put it into a song that will last the test of time for that person and all beyond who hear it.
And particularly those beyond who know the context of it. For doesn't the bard see all and then reveal all in the most empowering but gentle of ways so they can sing truth and yet also sing comedy and drama and loss, the foibles and the fables of that particular time.
And so you ask of the importance of the bard in these times for they were perhaps more obvious in those times before. And it is not that they are more or less important than before for all time is all time. And yet now is the innocence, the proximity, the closeness, and the capturing of someone's essence or the essence of a place or situation that is key here.
For we can so often overlook essence. We can so often overlook truth when there are so many noises from the world in the way it is hard to see and sense this essence.
And yet it is this essence that is key to capture and hold in loving honour and speak it out as truth.
For that is what a bard is, my dear, a bringer of truth. And it is truth that so often gets lost and yet truth that can so often create the ripples required to see that truth and let it be seen and heard for miles and miles.
To capture a story, to capture a truth is to capture life in a moment or moments of stillness as it is, with no bells and whistles, just tune and harmony. And then all can hear the signal they wish to hear from the bard who sings it.
For the bard's life is simple. The bard's life is true and the bards are rising because truth is rising and the bards are celebrations of truth.
For the bards to be rising, once again means only one thing. The people are ready to listen not only to the world, but to the essence of themselves, to the truth of who they are in a way that can only be light.
For this is the gift of the bard. They speak truth in light. To bring to light that once may have been hidden or was needed to be hidden in such a way it can only be light and therefore we can speak truth and see truth and hear truth in a way that is gentler, more palatable than the ego may have as wish.
And so for the bards to rise, is for truth to rise in each and every person who hears them.
And so it is.
Dandelion Stories - Becoming The Bard provides the opportunity for me to connect with other bards and weavers of story and provides a platform for their stories, songs and poetry to be heard. I'm passionate about creating gentle spaces for people to fully express themselves through story, poetry and song and to help reignite the innate creativity we each hold within. I wish for this podcast to become a capsule of reverence and celebration for storytelling that helps relight the spark of magic, playfulness and wild nature within us all.
We are living in times of noise, fracture, and forgetting.
And yet, a new cultural pulse is beginning - one carried not by algorithms or headlines, but by the Bards; Artists and Storytellers.
A Bard is a weaver of story, a keeper of memory. A Bard offers song and poetry to sing us back to ourselves when the world feels scattered.
Through song, art, poetry, and ritual, the Bard re-enchants the ordinary and reminds us that beauty and meaning are not luxuries - they are the foundations of humanity thriving.
Because the struggles we face in our modern day - disconnection, burnout and division - They ask for soul. They ask for imagination. They ask for us to gather in beauty and courage, to reweave the threads of belonging.
The Bard is rising in our time, not as a relic of the past, but as a necessary guide for the future.
Emily shares how becoming the bard wasn’t a clear decision or tidy plan. It was a series of embodied yeses. Words spoken before she fully understood them. Her body that started walking the path. Asking for songs and the songs arriving. This is a story about trusting what moves through you - even when you can’t yet explain it.
